Papertern

How we make and check Papertern's pages

We research and draft each guide from the official government pages, and check its rules against them.

Every rule comes from an official source: the tax office, a government business site or the law itself. Each guide links those official pages and gives the date we last checked them.

How each page is made

We research, draft and check every page ourselves. This is how a rule gets onto a page:

  1. We read the tax office's own guidance and, where it exists, the regulation behind it. We record each rule with its source and the date we read it.
  2. We write the page from those recorded rules only.
  3. From October 2026 we check each rule on a new page against its official source before the page goes live. We are also re-checking older pages.
  4. Anything we cannot confirm on an official page is listed as "not yet confirmed" in the guide.
  5. We re-check a country's rules when its tax office announces a change.

Sources and checked dates

Every guide lists the official pages it relies on, with the date each rule was checked. That date changes only when someone re-reads the official source. We never change a date to make a page look new.

The note at the end of each guide

Each guide ends with a short note like this:

About this page: written by Papertern from the official sources linked on this page, and checked against them. Rules checked 30 September 2026.

The date in the note is the date that page's rules were last checked at the source.

Free, with no sign-up

Papertern is free to use, and there is no sign-up. Nothing is uploaded: your document is made in your browser.

Report an error

If you think a rule is wrong or out of date, email hello@papertern.com with the country and the rule. We re-check the official source. If the page is wrong, we fix it and update its checked date.

Not advice

General information only, not tax, legal or accounting advice. We check the rules against official sources, but rules change and errors or omissions can happen: check the official source before you rely on it.
